Electrex World Ignitions
There are many electronic ignition manufactures on the market today, choosing which ignition set-up you need for your vintage British motorcycle can be very confusing and also challenging
Today I would like to introduce a newer type of electronic ignition on the market that can be fitted to almost any Triumph, BSA or Norton motorcycle (and others) at ease
Allow us to introduce Electrex World ignitions
Who / what is Electrex World?
Electrex world ignitions is a UK-based ignition manufacturer that has been producing ignitions for all makes, and models of motorcycles for over 25 years...
With a vast and constantly growing catalog Electrex World Ignitions main goal and focus is to offer modern ignitions that can be fitted to vintage British motorcycles without modifications - simply a bolt-on direct fit
Approx 90% of Electrex World ignition parts and supplies are made in the heart of England which means they know "British" motorcycles and there unique quirks!

Features
BSA B40 with an Electrex World CDI, regulator and a 2MC Lucas capacitor
Electrex world ignitions use a modern CDI (capacitor discharge ignition) system as the main form of firing
Using a CDI ignition allows for a stronger spark, precise timing and an overall reliable unit
Electrex World units are included with a rotor and trigger fitted directly off the crankshaft (in the primary cover) which allows the most accurate form of timing... no backlash, no gears, no advance units
Here are more features that Electrex World ignitions have to offer
- User programmable rev-limiters
- Combined stator, rotor and pick-up units
- Included regulators, coils, leads, and connectors
- No battery required on all ignition system (self sustained)
- And more.
All units come included with literally everything you need for your vintage British motorcycle making it a practical and an affordable alternative
Using Electrex World ignitions on models that original had points in the a timing means you can ditch you original coil, stator, rotor, advance unit, rectifier, diode and battery as our new kits will replace everything
Best applications
I highly recommend Electrex World ignitions for most vintage British motorcycles regardless of application
Here is a list of applications where I recommend this unit
- Flat Track bikes
- Road Race bikes
- Trails bikes
- Motorcross / Enduro bikes
- Choppers / Bobbers
- Road bikes
Electrex World ignitions have 2 major types of units that feature a lighting stator and a unit that is strictly for off road or racing purposes (no lightning)
These units are great for replacement the old Lucas "ET" ignition system that have always been known to be troublesome..
Purchase your own
Classic British Spares not only sells Electrex World ignitions but we also use them on our own motorcycles and customers
Our most recent project (1965 BSA B40 Enduro Star) featured an Electrex World ignition to replace the original Lucas ET ignition
Easy to install, no mods, quick and easy timing and starts on the first kick about 95% of the time . Without this unit the BSA B40 build would have been more expensive and not as reliable
The kits
If your ready to make the switch or build your next machine with an Electrex World ignition you can take a look at the kits we have to offer
All kits are in-stock and located here in the USA for fast dispatch any where around the world
There are 2 basic kits that’s are offered in various forms for most Triumph, BSA and Norton applications
All kits are affordable and have a base price range

- Coil
- DC lighting Stator (depending on kit)
- Regulator / Rectifier

I bought a Electrex world Ignition for my 1968 BSA A65 in 2018 takes 15 to 20 kicks to get going, no spark vissable on testing & even holding the HT leads does not give a shock / sent coil back under warrantee came back no fault: engine since rebuilt problems still there
3 years on only 300 miles as not relialable enough to use, buying a new coil from them at another £50 + to see if I can salvage it before I try another system,

Hi all, I purchased an Electrex world system for my Norton Dominator. Very disappointed with the alternator output at low revs, causing the lights to barely glow at night and the indicators to not work whilst waiting at traffic lights etc. Several emails to the manufacturer produced no replies. If riding at night, consider this aspect. The ignition side stops working for no apparent reason occasionally and then comes This only happens when you stop and try to restart, it hasnever failed whilst riding.
I would have liked feedback from the factory but this did not happen so they have now missed out on sixfurther upgrades to date.
